Whirlaway won all three Triple Crown races in 1941. This was a surprising victory considering Whirlaway would like to dart to the outside rail and lengthen the distance he had to run around the track.
Whirlaway has very straight legs that proportionally match the lean build of his body. He appears to be slightly “camped under” for his left rear leg, but this is very minor and should not affect his gait or athletic ability. If anything, his lean throatlatch, short back and very well-muscled hind end will be more beneficial and mask any conformational fault of his rear legs.
