Charismatic would have won the 1999 Triple Crown if not for finishing third in the final race. Just after finishing the race he brokedown, fracturing his cannon bone in his left front leg. His career ended with a failed Triple Crown attempt. X-rays later revealed he had also fractured a sesamoid bone in the same ankle. Surgery successfully repaired the leg, but he will never race again.
It is clear in this photo Charismatic’s throatlatch is narrow and his ribs are sprung well, allowing for a great amount of airflow. He has a short back and a well-muscled croup. His rear cannons look thicker and stronger than his front cannons; his injury was of his left front cannon bone.
