War Admiral is the son of Man O’ War. Apparently the apple does not fall far from the tree. This horse won the Triple Crown in 1937 and famously led from wire-to-wire in the Derby, a trait seen in his legendary sire. One of the only times he was beaten was by his “nephew” in the 1938 Pimlico Special.
War Admiral is very successful conformationally. He has very thin, long legs, but his body is also very lean. He has a thin neck and a narrow throatlatch to improve his air flow. His legs look very straight with no anatomical issues, explaining his great success in racing.
