When comparing the two blood lines of the successful racers it is apparent that the inbreeding only occurs on the sire side, with much of the inbreeding occurring 4 or 5 generations back. There are two distinct bloodlines seen within the sire's bloodline, with Fairy Play and his descendants remaining completely unconnected from the other horses. Man O' War and his "grandson" Seabiscuit also do not have any inbreeding appearing for these common sires, which could explain their great success as racers. Northern Dancer, Bold Ruler and Mr. Prospector are common sires within the successful horses, with all their offspring being inbred, but for different horses.
In the dam's bloodline we can again see how Man O' War and Seabiscuit remain isolated from the other dams. While no inbreeding appears for any of the horses, Gold Digger is related to two of the racers, Mine That Bird and Smarty Jones.
Unfortunately, no major sires or dams could be found to link Regret into the bloodlines.
