United States and England Thoroughbreds Conformation Comparison
2009- Mine That Bird vs. Sea the Stars
Mine That Bird is muscular, but also lean. Sea the Stars appears to be even leaner than Mine That Bird. Both their necks are tied high into thier bodies, which lifts weight off the front legs, both of which appear very narrow with short cannons. Mine That Bird appears to have a thicker neck than Sea the Stars, perhaps affecting air intake. Their legs each appear very thin, but Sea the Stars’ rear legs may be slightly thinner.
2012- I’ll Have Another vs. Camelot
I’ll Have Another, overall, appears leaner than Camelot. His body is very well muscled, and even with his leaner build, his legs appear thicker. Camelot is a lean build as well, but this compliments his narrow legs. This leaner muscle mass may be beneficial and appears in many current racers. I’ll Have Another has good conformation with more muscled upper legs. Camelot has much longer, leaner legs than I’ll Have Another, but this is not a negative considering his body build.
2013- Orb vs. Dawn Approach
Orb and Dawn Approach are built thin. This is commonplace for many Thoroughbreds. In these photos, Orb has thinner and longer legs. Dawn Approach appears more muscled and also has a thicker neck. Orb has a thinner throatlatch, improving air flow. Dawn Approach has a wider barrel, allowing for greater lung expansion and air intake. His cannons are also shorter than Orb’s, which could lengthen his stride length.
